New University of Warwick Graduate Scheme

This month, we have welcomed five graduate trainees onto our new University of Warwick Graduate Scheme. The graduate scheme involves four placements including one in a local SME or charity. The current trainees are involved in may key projects including the Resonate Festival, Community engagement in Canley, Warwick Esports, The West Midlands Health and wellbeing innovation network and local climate change goals in Institute for Global Sustainable Development.

"The placement approach allows us to take on and deliver new activities (for example coordinating the Canley Youth Summit) and the graduates bring energy, new ideas and fantastic professionalism. The scheme is a really great way for graduates to gain experience across the University and learn how Warwick works while delivering real impact for the teams they work with.”
Andrew Todd, Director | Regional Strategy & Partnerships Team

The scheme is sponsored by our Registrar Rachel Sandby-Thomas:

"Our graduate trainees bring fresh eyes, enthusiasm and new ideas. They abound with energy and love a challenge. It’s not a wonder they are in such demand. I hope they enjoy and learn as much as they can from their placements, and choose to stay with us for a very long time…our talent of the future.”

Warwick were previously part of the Ambitious Futures graduate scheme. A number of the previous graduate trainees have continued to work at Warwick and are involved in key projects, for example, STEM grand challenge, clearing and the new hybrid working model. The graduate trainees also formed the backbone of the Business Continuity team formed during the height of the pandemic, setting up asymptomatic and covid testing centres on campus and spearheaded key return to work activity.

"Our graduate trainees have contributed a huge amount, in terms of energy, ideas and skills, to a wide range of strategic University projects and business continuity activities. We see schemes like this as a valuable way to tap into the future talent pipeline, and give recent graduates exposure to exciting projects and support that will develop their skills and career horizons”
Ros Roke, Director of Product Management, IT Services
