Warwick staff honoured in Cleaning Operative Awards

Warwick staff have been honoured in this year’s Higher and Further Education Cleaning Operative awards – a new annual award introduced by the British Association of Cleaning in Higher Education (BACHE) in recognition of the value that cleaning and support staff provide within the sector. Congratulations go to Mary Ann Lee, Warwick Accommodation, who has been named Cleaning Operative of the Year 2011. The award was given in recognition of the professionalism and effort that Mary has shown in her work.

Dr Kerry Kirwan Awarded Thornton Medal

Dr Kerry Kirwan, WMG, has been awarded the Thornton Medal by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). This award is given in honour of Dr Kirwan's talk "Lean, Mean and Green: The World's First Environmentally Friendly Racing Car", which focussed on the WorldFirst Formula 3 racing car developed by WMG. The lecture included a discussion of how engineering science and the arts came together in the creation of the vehicle.

Warwick Farewell: Professor Jonathan Seville

The University of Surrey has announced today that Professor Jonathan Seville, Dean of Warwick's School of Engineering, will be joining Surrey as the new Dean of its Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (FEPS).
