Returning staff and students may not have seen the media reports in August that Warwick Mathematics student Tom Jagger was declared missing whilst climbing in the Peruvian Andes. Tom had just completed the third year of his MMath degree before embarking on this trip.

At the annual TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards, Warwick student Stephanie Esuola beat eight other finalists to win Law Undergraduate of the Year. Stephanie is the first female student to win this award.

While most of us were enjoying a feast of food and drink and cosy nights in this Christmas, 22-year-old Warwick biomedical student James Huxley Beavis was eating out of bins and sleeping on the streets to raise awareness of homelessness and raise money for the charity Crisis.
