Dr J. Toby Mottram, School of Engineering, has been awarded a 2011 Service Award by The Institution of Structural Engineers. The Nomination Committee made the award for his "much valued and extensive support to the Midland Counties Branch over a period of many years".

Professor David Haddleton, Department of Chemistry, has been awarded a Wolfson Research Merit Award by the Royal Society, the UK's national academy of science.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Mark Smith and John Hanna, Department of Physics and Claudia Ionescu, Department of Physics have been awarded the 2010 SAGE Best Paper Award by the Editor and Editorial Board of the Journal of Engineering in Medicine.

Dr Rosemary Collier, School of Life Sciences, was recently awarded the Marsh Horticultural Research Award 2010.

Director of WMG Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya was presented with the award for Lifetime Contribution to Midlands' Business in a ceremony on Friday 28 January 2011.
