Kate Birkinshaw, final-year French and History student 2005-06, has become a Joint Winner of the Society for French Studies' R. H. Gapper Undergraduate Essay Prize with her essay Revolutionary Propaganda 1788-1789 (with particular reference to pamphlets).
Brief Encounter - Nic Warrington
Nic Warrington is the Commercial Development and Communications Officer in the Students' Union. Her role involves ensuring everyone has a fun time when they come out to the Union as well as taking on board any feedback and suggestions students may have. She also edits the fortnightly Union magazine, The Word.
Professor Robin Naylor receives student nominated award
Professor Robin Naylor from the Department of Economics was recently chosen to share the national Student Nominated Learning and Teaching Award of the Economics Network for 2006. The Student Nominated Teaching Award provides an opportunity for Economics students to identify and honour the most inspiring and dedicated teaching staff in their department.

AJ Brown is the Finance, Democracy and Strategy Officer of the Students' Union. His role is to oversee the Union's £5.9 million turnover, encourage increased participation in the Union's democratic process, and look after the long-term stability of the Students' Union
Brief Encounter - Cleo Longworth
Cleo is the Education Officer and Deputy President of the Students' Union. Hands on, her role is representing the views and interests of the student population on numerous academic committees. She is also a primary port of call for any student with academic-related issues.
