Val Gooding, lay member of the University's Council, was awarded the PWC Lifetime Achievement Award at The CBI First Women Awards.
Jonathan Bate CBE - Queen's Birthday Honours
Professor Jonathan Bate, Professor of Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature, in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, was awarded a CBE in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Brief Encounter - Shazia Saleem
Shazia Saleem is the Sports Federation Chair and Co-Organiser of the Warwick World Cup '06. She chairs the committee that oversees the Union's sport provisions, including Sports Week, the Sports Fed Ball and the KPMG inter mural leagues. As Co-Organiser of the WWC, she has co-run a nationally unprecedented event bringing the FIFA World Cup atmosphere to campus (Jack Martin Fields, 14-21 June).
CBI Science Award for Yvonne Carter
Professor Yvonne Carter, Dean of Warwick Medical School, has won the national Science Award at this year's CBI Real Business First Women Awards ceremony which took place on Wednesday 7 June 2006 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
Brief Encounter - Owen Lloyd
Owen Lloyd is the Music Centre Administrator and Gala Concert Production Manager. As Administrator, he manages the day-to-day running of the Music Centre. As Gala Concert Production Manager he is responsible for co-ordinating the entire event, from music to the toilets! This year's free end of term Gala Concert takes place on the Maths Field on Thursday 22 June.
