Obituary - Jean Tandy

Originally published 16 April 2002

Jean Tandy died on Easter Sunday, 30 March, aged 67, after a long struggle with Myasthenia Gravis (an autoimmune disease). Jean came to the University in 1978 from the Catering Department of the old Coventry Teacher Training College (Westwood) and eventually joined the Expenditure Section of the Finance Office in Senate House. Unfortunately, due to complications with her illness she could no longer continue working and was forced to take ill health retirement in 1995.

She was a much loved member of staff and was always very cheerful and full of energy. She played badminton, was treasurer of Unison and at Christmas dressed up in outrageous costumes and visited offices across the University to collect money for the Myasthenia Gravis charity.
