CommUnicate regrets to report the death of Dr Martin Lowry, a member of the Department of History, on 17 September 2002.
He first came to Warwick in 1967, where he took his MA and PhD, having gained a double first in Classics and in Ancient History and Philosophy at Oxford. He joined the History department in 1970 and will be remembered by students for his inspiring in situ final year course on Venetian Renaissance history. His research on the history of printing during the 15th and 16th centuries brought him international recognition, culminating with a Getty fellowship.
He will be missed by colleagues and students alike, for the passion and enthusiasm that he had for his work.
