Dr Minjae Kim on asteroids passing close to Earth

Dr Minjae Kim said: "On June 27, 2024, at 20:16, the "big-bridge size" asteroid 415029 (2011 UL21), measuring 1.7 to 3.9 km in diameter, will make a close approach to Earth, coming within approximately 6 million km. Two days later, on June 29 at 13:49, another asteroid, 2024 MK, much smaller at 120 to 260 m in diameter (comparable to a couple of aeroplanes), will approach Earth, coming as close as 0.2 million km. These two approaches are particularly noteworthy, as close encounters with asteroids of approximately these sizes occur roughly once a decade."
