Professor Wyn Grant from the Department of Politics and International Studies comments on the Prime Minister's statement on Brexit negotiations:

"A defiant stance which shores up her support among Brexiteers in the party, demanding respect from the EU and insisting that no deal was better than bad deal.

"However, she admitted that the negotiations were at an impasse and it is not clear where go from here.

Even if the EU provides more detail about its objections to Chequers, it is not clear what this will resolve.

"Clearly there is an element of brinkmanship but chicken games can be dangerous."
