WBS Inaugural Lecture Series

In the last four months, Warwick Business School (WBS) has appointed 13 new professors across a broad range of subject areas and expertise.

Dean of WBS, Professor Mark Taylor, has established an Inaugural Lecture Series, to be delivered by these new professors on a topic related to their research.

The first lecture in the Series, which will be given by Professor Bruno Frey, is named "Should Government Maximize Happiness?" This is a question that provokes reaction across government, business, and higher education. It takes place from 5pm to 6pm on Tuesday 8 March 2011.

The second lecture will be given by Professor Martin Parker from 5pm to 6pm on Tuesday 17 May 2011 and is named "Can business schools question management?" This question is always a 'hot potato' for a higher education audience, focusing as it does on the tensions between a business school and its university.

Admission to both lectures is by ticket only, and tickets are limited. Please email inaugurallectureseries@wbs.ac.uk to book your ticket.

There will be a drinks reception with nibbles after both lectures.

Professor Steve Brammer is one of the 13 new professors, and as WBS Associate Dean (Research) is the figurehead for the lecture series. He comments:

"These lectures will serve to disseminate the latest research in our own particular areas of expertise as we are reaching the peak of our careers. It is exciting that we each have the opportunity to address a lively and critical audience which includes not only academia but representatives from business and beyond."
