The University of Warwick's Innovation Success Highlighted in Latest Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) Assessment

The University of Warwick has once again excelled in the latest KEF assessment, surpassing the sector average in several key areas of knowledge exchange.

Warwick’s performance in business engagement and research partnerships demonstrates its leadership in fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and contributing to societal progress.

Warwick’s business engagement efforts continue to set a high standard, reflecting its strong partnerships with both local and global enterprises. Its research collaborations further solidify the university’s reputation for creating impactful, world-leading research.

Research partnerships at Warwick were praised for their impact. Partnerships abroad including the Warwick-Monash Alliance, are matched with regional efforts to work collaboratively, including the Warwick Innovation District.

Programmes hosted at Warwick, including the NatWest business accelerator, show the University’s commitment to supporting local businesses, whether large or small.

Vice-Chancellor of The University of Warwick, Professor Stuart Croft, commented: “Our performance in the latest KEF assessment showcases our continued leadership in driving innovation and collaboration across industries and communities.

“These results reflect the tireless efforts of our staff, students, and partners who are deeply committed to turning knowledge into impactful action.”

Warwick has been ranked above its peers in large, research-intensive universities for both working with business and community engagement, with the KEF noting ‘very high engagement’ in both these areas.

One key highlight is Warwick’s success in working with businesses, where its partnerships continue to drive economic and technological advancements. A notable example is the University’s collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover through Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG).

WMG and JLR have a long-standing collaboration in the field of research and development. Over the years, we have invested millions in infrastructure and equipment together, alongside supporting skills and education programmes.

The Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) measures the success of UK higher education institutions in knowledge exchange activities, such as research commercialization, support for businesses, and local engagement.

Warwick’s achievements underscore its pivotal role in driving economic growth and societal progress both regionally and internationally.
