Call for Abstracts for IRCC 2026

Abstracts are invited from researchers, research professionals, enablers, research technicians and all professionals working to strengthen research culture. We also encourage submissions from those based in research environments beyond higher education and from colleagues working in international or interdisciplinary settings. We particularly welcome contributions from individuals across all career stages and role types, including those from groups that remain underrepresented in research.

We ask for all abstracts to be 300-500 words (excluding references & authors list).

Types of Abstracts

New! Expression of Interest: Challenge-led Workshops

We are inviting expressions of interest from colleagues who would like to collaborate on co-creating and facilitating a challenge led workshop at the in-person event on Wednesday 23rd September.

These workshops will focus on a key research culture challenge facing the sector and will bring together individuals who have been working on similar issues and are ready to share learning, practical insights, and real-world experience to shape a workshop that participants can engage with.

Expressions of interest should be 200 - 300 words.

Please submit an EOI if you:

  • have been working on, have evidence or experience you would like to share in one of these challenges areas:
    • Developing Recognition and Reward for Good Research Culture​
    • Collective Advocacy and Collaboration with Funders
    • Research Culture Data Capture and Evaluation
    • Patient, Public and Community Involvement and Engagement with Research
    • Career Precarity ​
    • Wellbeing in the Research Environment
    • Understanding Experiences of Failure in Academia
    • Embedding Research Culture Strategy into Practice
  • are interested in collaborating with peers to develop a workshop
  • can commit to taking part in the workshop and any follow up discussions

Format: This session will take place at the in-person event on Wednesday 23rd September with ample time for discussion and collaborative activity.
