Feedback and Reflections

Feedback from our audiences at events...

THINK & REFLECT

People found the space helped them to think and reflect differently.

So far all respondents have either Strongly Agreed or Agreed that the exhibition/space "made me think differently or reflect."

We asked our audiences...

A few of the 'one words' used often by our audiences. Finish the sentence.... In the Drop the Mask Studio/Space I felt...

  • Inspired
  • Happy
  • Moved
  • Thoughtful
  • Hopeful

ABSORBING

Most respondents so far Strongly Agreed that the exhibition/space was "absorbing and held my attention."

So far all visitors agree that they have learnt something new...

Drop the MAsk exhibition at Resonate festival
  • What 'neurodivergent means' and 'how some of my friends feel'
  • The challenges neurodivergent people face and potential solutions.
  • I think I learnt about sensory experiences in school, in a new way, that I'd never thought about before
  • Knowledge is power
  • How important it is be aware of the different issues surrounding neurodivergence
  • About neurodivergent people's experiences with AFRID

LIFE TODAY

All respondents reported that they Strongly Agreed or Agreed that the exhibition/space "had something to say about life today."

We wanted to know what stood out most about the exhibition...

  • The moving poetry, the real life stories
  • The artwork, that had been made by everyone
  • Mask-making
  • The Q and A open panel discussion
  • Making the mask really made me think about my own mask and some of the images helped me appreciated on the outside what some ND people feel on the inside
  • Most of the canvases!

Or if they already felt they knew a fair bit then they said things like...

I am already on a personal mission to increase awareness of ND, however it has added more experiences and I can now talk about the exhibition when delivering training.

CAREFULLY MADE

When asked if "it was well put together and carefully made" the vast majority of people so far have Strongly Agreed

When asked what one word they would use to describe their experience/the exhibition... people responded...

Fun, Insightful, Realisation, Beautiful, Amazing, Powerful and Relaxed

Most people reported that their interaction with the exhibition and space had changed the way they think or feel, or how they will do something in the future...

  • Being more aware of different needs
  • Thinking beyond myself in different settings and trying to make spaces more accessible for everyone
  • Be more considerate
  • I am going into teaching after university, so it is very important to be aware and include people with neurodivergence

DIFFERENT

Most people so far reported either Agreeing or Strongly Agreeing that the exhibition/ space "was different to things I've experienced before".

We would like to help people think outside the box - so to speak - and think about ND from 'inside out' - not the outside in'.

Neurodivergent & Neurotypical

When reporting back, some people didn't 'tick any boxes' re. neurodivergence. So far none of our respondents have reported a formal diagnosis, others have ticked one or more of the following -

  • Know someone who is ND
  • Live with/love someone ND
  • Think I might be ND
  • I am seeking a diagnosis
