Drop the Mask Poetry and Spoken Word Gallery
Drop the Mic
Some of the participants from our very first workshop recorded their spoken word pieces which were then curated into this short video by our freelance creatives, John Bernard and Adom Agyapong.
Drop the Mask: Drop the Mic: Together.
Working with the wonderful and very talented (and patient!) John Bernard, Coventry Poet Laureate, we have began to create a bank of poetry and spoken word, reflections and insights, raw and honest, real and lived.
- We are not all claiming to be poets, we are not all claiming to have talent! :-) We are trying to communicate what our experiences are and how the creative process helps us to make sense of our experiences and to communicate them.
- We are not only giving ourselves voice, another voice, a different voice, a bigger voice, a paint based voice, a video voice, a poetic voice - perhaps for some that contribute - an anonymous voice... we giving ourselves a collective voice.
Be it a photo or a poem, a stream of consciousness or a collage, a wild, bright painting, or detailed, intricate sketch or doodle. We want to share your voice.
We can take action, to create, exchange, collate, accelerate and amplify local knowledge about neurodivergence and the changes that need to happen to increase the wellbeing of neurodivergent people.
Through this we can try to create change. And we can base that change, those changes, a collection of changes of various shapes and sizes... on research and lived experience - undertaken with neurodivergent and neurotypical people and for the benefit of both neurodivergent and neurotypical people.
