Getting started

What happens next?

RCEN Teams Group

The Teams group is ideal for informal chats with like-minded colleagues from across the network and for getting advice. We're focused on sharing best practices and avoiding duplication. No question is too basic — so please ask away.

Once you join the network, you'll receive an invite to the Teams group.

Networking Slides

In the RCEN Teams group, you'll find a Networking Slides template, which you can use to share details with fellow members, including your research culture journey, key priorities, areas of expertise, and what you hope to learn from others. This information will help us understand the makeup of the network and enhance training and collaborative activities.

RCEN co-leads

RCEN is shaped by colleagues from different institutions and professional backgrounds. Our co-leads drive our working groups and other activities and partnerships, helping to keep the network grounded in what members care about. Do you have ideas for enhancing our network activities? We'd love to hear from you — get in touch at researchculture@warwick.ac.uk

Network meetings

How often does the network meet?

Every two months, we get together for:

  • Group networking and 'roadmapping' on specific research culture challenges
  • Sector updates on Research Culture
  • Presentations from RCEN members
  • Talks by external guest speakers
  • Q&A sessions and informal networking

Meetings are usually held virtually on Microsoft Teams.

Sharing your work

How can I promote research culture work I am doing?

Speak at an RCEN meeting

One of our key goals is to enhance our thought leadership. If you have exciting research culture work to share, we'd love to hear from you. Please contact us at researchculture@warwick.ac.uk

Research Culture Knowledge Exchange LinkedIn Group

NCRC is also leading research on research culture, so please get in touch if you are interested in collaborating on funding bids or other strategic initiatives to catalyse change at scale.

Turning shared priorities into practical work

RCEN working groups

Through consultation with the network and hundreds of responses from members, we have identified three priority areas where collaboration across institutions can add the greatest value.

Each working group is led by RCEN members and provides a space to explore challenges in greater depth and develop practical outputs for the wider research culture community.

Research Culture Data Capture and Evaluation

This group explores how institutions can better evidence and evaluate research culture. It is bringing together existing approaches and indicators to support meaningful and proportionate evaluation.

Supporting the work and people driving research culture change

What, ultimately, is the network trying to achieve?

In the short term

Help people working on research culture find one another and feel less isolated when tackling common challenges.

In the medium term

Create more opportunities for people in these roles to develop professionally and receive greater recognition for their work.

In the long term

Bring people together around the issues that matter most and contribute to lasting change through evidence and collective initiatives, including research on research.
