UK-wide Equipment Sharing Fund

Do you need access to specialist research equipment or facilities not available at your institution?
The UK-wide Equipment Sharing Fund is currently open for applications. This fund provides support to visit and use cutting-edge equipment and technical expertise showcased in the ITSS Technology Capabilities Showcase – a national platform highlighting technician-led facilities across the UK.
There are currently 210 facilities already featured and open for collaboration
If your project could benefit from this type of access, apply for funding now – whether you’re looking to test an idea, generate data, or spark a new collaboration. The deadline for this round of funding is 16th May.
If you need help on finding a suitable facility then we can help. Enter your details into the funding application form and provide as much detail as you can and we can help match you to a facility that has the equipment and experience that you require.
And if you’re part of a facility that isn’t yet listed, we’d love to feature you in the Showcase.

Warwick Ultrafast Spectroscopy Symposium

A great event on Friday bringing together over 40 researchers with an interest in Ultrafast and THz Spectroscopy. A big thank you to all our speakers; Dr Greg Greetham (Central Laser Facility), Dr Joseph Beames (University of Birmingham) and Dr Jessica Boland (University of Manchester) and our amazing contributed talks. Also a special thanks to the Warwick analytical Science centre and Dr Chris Waldron for funding and organisation.

Curious Adventures in Colour and Light

Warwick University researchers, Dr Jack Woolley – facility manager of the Warwick Centre for Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Dr Sofia Goia – research fellow in CiMAT WMG, set up to showcase the power of light and demonstrate how light can help scientists to uncover the inner workings of chemical reactions happening all around us at the atomic level through a workshop held at Compton Verney Art Gallery in Warwick. Through some fun experiments, audience members were able to learn about current research work performed at Warwick University through an interactive laser interferometry experiment. Moreover, visitors were able to learn about sunscreens and how they work, along with examples of UV-active compounds found in everyday products and put their imagination to test with exciting ‘invisible’ UV-active ink drawings.

Equipment Sharing Fund

The Equipment Sharing Fund allows researchers, PhD students and Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) to access cutting-edge research equipment, not available in their home institution. Funds cover the cost of initial analysis, helping to strengthen collaboration opportunities and ensure value for money within the UK’s research and innovation ecosystem. The fund opens for three rounds and will provide the full economic cost (fEC) or TRAC rate directly to the facility.
