Spotlight on Health
Our vision...
The Health Spotlight is building an inclusive, interdisciplinary community dedicated to helping to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare across the globe.
We’re using interdisciplinary methodologies and emerging technologies to tackle the big issues which impact us all, from the mental health crisis, to the increase in ageing populations and obesity, to global pandemics.
Our strong partnerships with the NHS, industry and government will help us meet the complex research challenges of the future of health.
Our research themes
- Technologies in health – Exploring the impact and usage of new and emerging technologies in healthcare, such as genomics and AI
- Prevention, Public Health and Healthcare Implementation – Good health and access to quality healthcare are not available to all. This theme will explore the social and political dimensions of healthcare
- Mental Health and Wellbeing – The mental health crisis carries huge costs for individuals, the NHS and the economy. This theme will explore the challenges around mental health and responses to them
- Interdisciplinary Methodologies in Health - Building tools and partnerships to respond to contemporary health challenges across our themes.

Our people
“Our vision is for a network where diverse talent is nurtured and ‘blue skies’ research ideas can be explored in a mutually supportive environment”
- Professor Felicity Boardman, Health Spotlight Chair
