Innovative Approaches to Health Communication

Interdisciplinary Insights from Linguistics, Digital Media, and Practices

Language matters

Language plays a pivotal role in shaping how individuals understand illness and well-being, influencing patient engagement in various ways. These include how openly people share their experiences, how they interpret health-related risks, and how health information is communicated across different cultural and social contexts.

Digital Transformation

At the same time, digital technologies such as health apps, telemedicine, and AI-driven tools are transforming healthcare delivery. This shift necessitates the use of digital methods from digital media studies to access, analyse, and interpret digital health data appropriately.

Aims

This project aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between linguistics, digital media studies and healthcare through a series of targeted activities designed to explore how linguistic and digital methods can enhance healthcare research.
