In response to the UK Government’s launch of the Circular Economy Taskforce in November 2024, Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), in collaboration with Warwick Business School (WBS) and the Institute for Global Sustainability at the University of Warwick, established a pioneering Framework. This proposal aims to transition UK manufacturing from the traditional linear “take–make–dispose” model to a dynamic, circular economy!
At its core, the framework is structured around Seven Strategic Priorities, operationalised through the Circular Manufacturing Policy Engine, enabled by Systemic Enablers, and translated into practice via the Circular Manufacturing Toolkit. Together, these components form a coordinated delivery ecosystem designed to:
🔄 Accelerate the shift to circular production models
📈 Drive inclusive economic growth and industrial competitiveness
🔗 Reinforce supply chain resilience
🌍 Advance the UK’s net zero ambitions
🏆 Position the UK as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing
