Untitled 06 by Hurvin Anderson

Untitled 06 by Hurvin Anderson

Anderson's landscapes are usually unpopulated. Drawn from memory, they are a fusion of his experience of growing up in UK and of his parents’ childhood homes in the Caribbean where he spent holidays. The grilles not only recall urban street furniture in both countries but the sense of always belonging somewhere else and excluded from the sense of home that imbues many readings of landscapes. This is another example of an observed feature being expressed in an abstract image.
