Regulation 23

Regulation 23 details principles and processes of what to follow for Student discipline offences and provides examples of misconduct that would be considered as a breach of Regulation 23. This is the University’s overarching Regulation for student discipline, several other policies come under this Regulation, for example Student Sexual Misconduct, Dignity at Warwick and Fitness to Practise.

Regulation 27

Regulation 27 governs on-campus residential accommodation concerning misconduct in residence. Whilst this regulation supplements Regulation 23, any offences of a serious nature, as identified by the regulations, will be dealt with under Regulation 23. Regulation 27 has its own process which is managed by the Head of Residential Community, along with the Residential Community Coordinators, within the Residential Community Team.

Student Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Abuse Policy

The University is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all. We do not tolerate any forms of sexual misconduct, assault, violence or abuse. If we receive an allegation that one of our students has committed an act of sexual misconduct it will be investigated and managed under this separate policy.

As well as agreeing to our principles and completing our Student Conduct: What You Need To Know Moodle on enrolment, we expect all of our Students to be aware of the Dignity at Warwick policy and adhere to its expectations in all that they do.

Fitness to Practise

Student Discipline and Fitness to Practise Flowchart

For certain courses, such as Medicine and Teaching, a further set of expected behaviours come into force. On these courses, students must be seen as ‘fit to practise’ and any misconduct that falls short of these defined standards is managed under Regulation 34. Depending on the type of offence, Regulation 23 may also apply.

Students with multiple roles

This is the process that will be followed should a student be identified as having more than one role at the university.
In these cases, the university does not want the students involved to be interviewed multiple times for different disciplinary investigation processes, to minimise disruption to studies and stress.
