Module summary
Module Leader: Dr Daniel Franklin & Dr Robin Henderson
This module is particularly relevant to students considering future professional transitions, but is available to all postgraduate research students.
This module is based around a two-day course that introduces key approaches to decision-making and their relationship to leadership. Students will explore how individual and group decisions are made, including the role of uncertainty, evidence, assumptions, risk, competing priorities and group dynamics.
The module also considers leadership as a practical capability involving influence, collaboration, communication and reflection. Through interactive activities and structured reflection, students will apply decision-making and leadership concepts to research, professional and organisational contexts relevant to their development as doctoral researchers.
