Do you need to consider access/egress?

Ensure that you are able to safely access and egress the area where you are carrying out the lifting operation. If lifting equipment needs to be moved to the location, consider any height or width restrictions, overhead cables, poor flooring/ground (which could make the equipment unstable), changes in floor level, inadequate lighting, obstacles etc., and ensure that sufficient measures are put into place to mitigate the risks associated with coming into contact with these. Also consider any protection that needs to be put into place to prevent coming into contact with pedestrians or other vehicles.
