For lifting equipment used on working platforms, is there a need to remove edge protection and replace it as soon as possible after the lift?

If hoists are to be used on a working platform, there may be a need to remove the handrail/edge protection to enable equipment or goods to be loaded or unloaded. Suitable measures must be put into place to prevent falls when the edge protection is removed. A work restraint system such as a lanyard to prevent persons from moving beyond the edge could be considered. The edge protection must be reinstated as soon as practicable.
