IDG Software Engineering has developed & delivered a catering management system as part of an Agile development collaboration with CCSG which took place throughout the summer in 2023. The system has been under test since August and went live in December 2023. In addition to providing a modern, self-service customer friendly ordering experience, the new system was specifically designed to improve the efficiency of business processes. The new automated, and highly integrated system replaces former manual, disconnected systems.

Benefits of the new system include:

1. A self-service, modern customer friendly food and drink ordering experience

2. Automatic reports for generating kitchen orders / recipes

3. Automatic ingredients ordering from suppliers

4. Automated delivery process

5. Automated reporting into finance

6. Pre-authorised cost code validation using the voucher system (eliminates time-consuming post ordering financial reconciliation)

Kerry Brown, Food & Drink Manager, was very positive about the process: "The whole project has been a joy to work on and we are looking forward to seeing the impact it has on our department for the better. Having the new portal is going to allow us to develop our team in ways that would have been impossible to think of if we were to continue using the same outdated booking method."
