How to connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network on Apple iOS

Introduction

eduroam, short for “education roaming,” is a secure, global Wi-Fi access service designed for the international research and education community. It enables students, researchers, and staff to obtain internet connectivity across campus and at other participating institutions worldwide, simply by using their home institution’s login credentials.

How to connect to eduroam on Apple iOS

These instructions were created on iOS version 17 but should apply to all iOS versions.

Manual setup

  • Select Settings then Wi-Fi

  • Select eduroam from the list of available networks.

  • You will receive a prompt asking you to accept one or more certificates. It is important that you review the certificates to make sure that they are the correct ones. Click More Details to view the certificate properties. The correct certificates will have the following properties:

Locality: COVENTRY
Organisation: University of Warwick
Organisational NA
Common Name: eap.warwick.ac.uk

  • Verify the Certificate Details match the properties on your Apple iOS device

  • Once you are satisfied the certificate is correct, click Trust to connect.
