To connect you network card to the data socket in your room, you will require a network cable, also known as RJ45 Ethernet Cable. There are many cables which may look the same as a network cable but wont actually work. It is important that you use the correct cable, an RJ45 Cat 5/6 Ethernet Cable.

RJ45 Ethernet/Network Cable	RJ11 cable often provided as a telephone or modem cable
10/100/1000Mb Ethernet/Network Card or adapter	A Modem
