Tabula release notes

Tabula 2020.6.5 released

We released Tabula 2020.6.5 on Monday 22nd June 2020. In this version:

  • In the Marks Management component:
    • We ensured that resit marks for assessment components are capped at the appropriate level when calculating module marks.
    • The mark history popups for module and component marks now include 'Status' and 'Operation' columns.
    • We added the student’s name to the mark history popups on the 'Record component marks' page. They were already present in the popups on the 'Calculate module marks' page.
    • We accommodated reassessment via a different assessment method. You can now record component marks for these, which are used in the module mark calculation in place of the mark from the original assessment.
    • The main Marks Management page now loads faster.
    • We fixed a bug that caused marks from resits and further first sits to be incorrectly labelled as 'Agreed' marks. Such marks are now labelled 'Resit' or 'Further first sit', as appropriate.
  • In exam grids:
    • Unconfirmed actual marks are now highlighted, as shown in the key at the top of each grid.
    • Where a module was subject to a missing marks adjustment and no module marks were awarded, 'FM' is now shown on the grid in place of a mark. 'Pass', 'Fail', or 'No result', is shown in brackets, as appropriate. For grids set to show component marks, 'FM' is also used for affected assessment components.

Tabula 2020.6.4 released

We released Tabula 2020.6.4 on Thursday 18th June 2020. In this version:

  • We continued to refine the Marks Management component. For example, the 'Calculate module marks' page is now faster.
  • The checkbox to select all students on the Marking page for an assignment is now working again.
  • We fixed the buttons for recording attendance at small group teaching events for all students at once.
  • We completed more work on the upcoming graduation benchmark functionality.

Tabula 2020.6.3 released

We released Tabula 2020.6.3 on Friday 12th June 2020. In this version:

  • We changed how you record first-year module marks when an assessment component was missed due to force majeure. You now choose whether to award module marks and / or credit. Your choice will depend on whether the module's remaining assessment components:
    • Were sufficient to assess learning outcomes
    • Enable you to differentiate student performance.
  • When you include component marks on an exam grid, you can now hover over each mark to see the sequence, title and weighting of the component.
  • We completed more work on the upcoming graduation benchmark functionality.

Tabula 2020.6.2 released

We released Tabula 2020.6.2 on Wednesday 10th June 2020. In this version:

  • In the Marks Management component:
    • Module Managers and Departmental Administrators can now confirm module marks, and the corresponding component marks, as actual marks.
    • Module marks calculated in Tabula are now automatically uploaded to SITS. Any module marks recorded before this release have also been uploaded.
    • You can now record unconfirmed actual component marks via the Tabula API.
    • If you enter a module mark that differs from the calculated module mark, you must now add an explanatory comment.
    • We made it clearer when the weighting for an assessment component is changed to 0% due to variable assessment weighting (VAW). A label of '0%' is now shown next to the mark for the component, and when you hover over this you see an explanatory note.
    • We added the following to each table for entering or previewing marks:
      • The students' names.
      • A link for each student to a popup summary of their profile, which contains a link to the full profile.
      • The ability to sort the tables by clicking on the column headings.
  • We also completed further work in preparation for the upcoming graduation benchmark functionality.

Tabula 2020.6.1 released

We released Tabula 2020.6.1 on Friday 5th June 2020. In this version:

  • We introduced new functionality within the Marks Management component. You can now:
    • Make a missing marks adjustment when an assessment did not take place, for example due to industrial action or COVID-19.
    • Scale component marks to properly reflect the performance of a cohort against learning outcomes and grade descriptors. Thanks are due to Dave Wood (Maths) and Sam Coy (Computer Science) for their invaluable help with this.
    • Calculate and record module marks - Tabula can calculate module marks when component marks are present.
  • We widened the page to show more on screen. This should help when you view previews of exam grids, for example.
  • When you include mitigating circumstances on an exam grid:
    • Comments from the panel are now shown. These comments were already available within the assessment breakdown of any affected student.
    • Where a recommendation to the exam board applies to all of a student's modules for the mitigation period, these modules are now listed.
  • We completed some work in preparation for the upcoming graduation benchmark functionality.
