Tabula release notes
Tabula 2020.2.2 released
We released Tabula 2020.2.2 on Thursday 13th February 2020. In this version:
-
You can now view an attendance audit trail for small group events. On the 'Record attendance' page for an event where attendance has been recorded or changed, a 'View history' button is displayed next to the 'Attendance last updated' time and date. If you select this button, a pop-up box displays a table with the following columns:
-
Date - the time and date of the change
-
User – the person who made the change
- Changes - the name and University ID of each student whose attendance was recorded or changed, with the corresponding icon for 'Attended', 'Missed (unauthorised)', etc.
- Full audit trail data is only available from 29th October 2019. For attendance recorded or changed before then, 'Unknown' is displayed in this column.
- If the user saves without making changes, or only creates or edits an attendance note, 'No attendance changes' is displayed.
-
- We added a downloadable Excel template for uploading small group teaching event attendance. On the 'Record attendance' page, select the 'Upload attendance' button, then in the box that pops up use the link to download the template. The template includes any attendance that has already been recorded.
- We made some changes to what you see when reviewing the mitigating circumstances submissions added to a panel:
- We moved the 'Return to panel' button from the 'Actions' section on the right to the top of the page and made it a link instead. The top section of the page remains in place when you scroll, so the link stays visible.
- We added the 'Approve outcomes' (or 'Unapprove outcomes') button to the bottom of the 'Outcomes' section. It is also available in the 'Actions' section, as before.
- Markers can now see the time and date that feedback was published to students. On the 'Marking' page for an assignment, under the expandable 'Marked' section, this information is displayed next to the progress bar for each student whose feedback has been published.
-
We made the Assignments page of students' profiles more consistent with the Assignments page under Coursework Management. This had the unintended effect of displaying the ‘student view’ of the Assignments page within students’ profiles to staff. The ‘staff view’ has since been restored.
- Students with extensions are now released for marking when their extended deadline is reached, rather than on the assignment close date. This applies to assignments set to automatically release to markers.
- The 'Late feedback' filter on the 'Assignments' page now takes extensions into account. When you apply this filter, the following scenario will no longer cause the assignment to be displayed:
- The assignment close date was more than 20 working days ago
- The assignment has a student enrolled whose extended deadline is fewer than 20 working days ago
- This student has not yet received feedback.
- Students with an extension who are subsequently removed from the assignment are no longer notified that their submission is overdue. This was already the case for students without extensions.
- On the 'Set default event properties' page for a small group set, the time picker for 'Start time' and 'End time' no longer displays a date.
- All files within Coursework Management now download when you select them. Previously, certain files opened in the web browser in certain cases. This change provides greater consistency and improved security.
Tabula 2020.2.1 released
We released Tabula 2020.2.1 on Thursday 6th February 2020. In this version:
- We made some changes to support mandatory attendance monitoring:
- When small group teaching event attendance is recorded after the day of the event, a small clock icon is displayed with the attendance icon. Selecting the attendance icon displays a pop-up box that details who recorded the attendance, when they recorded it, and how many days after the event this was.
- We also added three new reports to the ‘Reports’ component:
- ‘All event registers’
- ‘Unrecorded event registers’. This shows all events where one or more students have unrecorded attendance.
- ‘Recorded late event registers’. This shows all events where one or more students had their attendance recorded or updated after the day of the event.
- There is now the option to attach files when approving an extension.
- We fixed open-ended assignments so that when a student makes a submission it no longer auto-records all ‘Coursework’ monitoring points for the rest of the year.
- There is now a search box within the ‘modules’ filter on the Small Group Teaching admin page.
- When you export a student’s profile within ‘Reports’, the resulting PDF file now includes the student’s full name and University ID on the top left of each page.
- It’s now possible to remove all students from a reusable small group allocation, via a ‘Remove all students’ button at the top of the ‘Find students’ section.
- When you link a small group set to a reusable small group allocation, the 'Students linked by' section on the ‘Properties’ page is now hidden.
- Adding a bulk attendance note based on an existing note for an individual student now also adds any file attached to the existing note.
- We improved the edit pages for assignments:
- When there is no marking workflow, the option 'Automatically release assignment to markers on the assignment closing date' is hidden.
- When ‘Collect submissions’ is not selected, the options which depend on submissions are greyed out and disabled.
- On the ‘Edit students’ page, if any not-in-use assessment components exist a link to these is now always shown. Previously, if there were no in-use assessment components the link was not shown, even when a not-in-use component existed.
Tabula 2020.1.4 released
We released Tabula 2020.1.4 on Thursday 30th January 2020. In this version:
- You can now record an attendance note for a Small Group Teaching event for all students at once. There is the option to overwrite existing notes or leave them in place.
- Mitigating Circumstances Officers are now alerted to assessments with deadlines outside of the period covered by a Mitigating Circumstances claim. A warning triangle is displayed next to the date of any such assessment.
- Within ‘Reports’, when you generate a list of students on the ‘Export profiles’ page there is now a checkbox at the top to select all of them.
- For moderated assignments, the ‘Marking’ page for moderators now features a ‘Mark’ column next to ‘Marker Mark’. This displays the moderated mark, enabling moderators to see which marks they have changed.
- Markers are now able to download the feedback they uploaded for assignment submissions.
- The ‘Marking’ page for assignments with a feedback deadline now displays this at the top. The deadline is also included in the email notifications sent to markers when the assignment is released for marking.
- The ‘Missed event attendance by module’ report now excludes authorised absences. This makes it consistent with:
- The ‘Attendance’ page in students’ profiles
- The attendance page for a given module within Small Group Teaching
- When you copy a marking workflow featuring moderation from a previous year, the copy now retains the correct setting for who chooses which submissions to moderate.
- We now prevent invalid characters within the ‘Accepted attachment file types’ box on the ‘Edit assignment options’ page for an assignment. Previously, it was possible to specify ‘docx;’, for example, and the semicolon prevented the setting working as intended.
- We made it possible to remove all attachments from a mitigating circumstances claim. Previously, it was impossible to remove the last attachment.
- When you are signed in and email to request support via the pop-up box in Tabula, your username is now read only. This is so the Help Desk raises the resulting support call in your name. You can access the pop-up box from any Tabula page by selecting the 'Need help?' button in the top right and then following the link under 'Technical support' at the bottom of the 'Need help?' page.
Tabula 2020.1.3 released
We released Tabula 2020.1.3 on Thursday 23rd January 2020. In this version, in the Mitigating Circumstances component:
- We fixed a bug that prevented the display of certain affected assessments once outcomes were recorded.
- Images uploaded as evidence now display the right way round in all supported browsers, whether they were taken in portrait or landscape orientation.
- We fixed a bug that caused affected assessments to appear on a submission even when they were not selected.
- It's now possible to record acute outcomes for affected assessments of type 'Other'.
- We fixed a bug that caused certain assignments and exams to appear on the 'Other' tab in the 'Which assessments have been affected? section. This is also fixed for assignments and exams that are manually added to a submission.
Tabula 2020.1.2 released
We released Tabula 2020.1.2 on Thursday 16th January 2020. In this version:
-
We converted all assignments created in the old coursework management component (CM1) to assignments in the current component (CM2). This means you can now open and edit these assignments within CM2.
