  1. In order to perform essential maintenance on Web Sign-on, Webgroups and External users', we will be migrating the application to a server in a different datacentre over a two day period next week. This change will be performed in two short periods. On 10am on Tuesday 29th January, we will move the applications to the other server.*We do not expect this to cause any downtime* on Web Sign-on, Webgroups or External Users', as the other server runs as a "hot standby"; you should not notice any change in the behaviour of any of these applications. These applications should be considered*At Risk* until the end of the second change (outlined below). On 10am on Wednesday 30th January, we will move the database that backs these applications to the other server. During the move, we will not allow writes to the database, and this will lead to reduced availability of these applications as outlined below: > *Web sign-on* > > > * Users will be unable to authenticate to web sign-on during the period > where it is operating against a read-only database (expected to be shorter > than 5 minutes) > * Users already signed in will not be affected > * Applications fetching user information from web sign-on will not be > affected > > *Webgroups* > > > * Creating, editing or deleting web groups will not be possible during > the period where it is operating against a read-only database (expected to > be shorter than 5 minutes) > * The ability to specify groups in other applications will be unaffected > > *External Users'* > > > * Users will be unable to create, edit or remove external users during > the period where it is operating against a read-only database (expected to > be shorter than 5 minutes) > * Applications fetching user information about external users will not be > affected > > This maintenance is being undertaken in line with the IT Services Change Management process. The dates outlined above are indicative and awaiting confirmation. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reply to this topic or to emailwebteam@warwick.ac.uk
