Tabula release notes

Tabula 2021.3.2 released

We released Tabula 2021.3.2 on Friday 12th March 2021. In this version:

  • Where submissions should be automatically released to markers, students with a self-certification are now automatically released when their deadline passes.
  • Unrecorded attendance reminders and notifications to students about uploading outstanding mitigating circumstances evidence, are now sent at 9am rather than at midnight.
  • We've fully removed the acknowledgement action from self-certifications. This action has been automatically applied to all self-certifications since the release of 2021.3.1. After this release the "acknowledge" button and all associated labels in the progress bar have been removed.
  • Notifications sent to students when they self-certify now mention when deadlines cannot be automatically updated by Tabula.

Tabula 2021.3.1 released

We released Tabula 2021.3.1 on Friday 5th March 2021. In this version:

  • All self-certification submissions are now automatically acknowledged. This includes those that affect assessments for which automatic extensions cannot be applied. The change is a precursor to the removal of the acknowledgement part of the process and means that:
    • When extensions need to be manually granted, all affected departments are notified immediately. These notifications go to Extension Managers and Departmental Administrators by default. Affected departments can change this in their notification settings.
    • When a student self-certifies, they receive an immediate notification that lists:
      • Which assessment deadlines have been automatically extended
      • Which assessment deadlines will be considered before extensions can be applied.
  • We made some changes to avoid assignment marks and feedback being finalised for students who are within extensions:
    • When a marker expands the row for a student on the Marking screen, the presence of an extension is now highlighted.
    • Markers cannot send students within extensions to the admin if:
      • They have not yet submitted
      • They have submitted but the assignment is set to allow resubmissions.
  • When a student self-certifies and selects 'Other' as the module for an assessment, Extension Managers in the student's home department are now notified.

Tabula 2021.2.4 released

We released Tabula 2021.2.4 on Friday 26th February 2021. In this version:

  • We completed more work on self-certification:
    • On the department settings page, you can now:
      • Specify a date after which all assignments in the department become ineligible for self-certification. Any assignment in the department with a deadline after this date cannot be selected on the self-certification form. This applies to all students, regardless of their home department.
      • Provide further guidance to students when they self-certify. This is displayed above the general guidance on the right of the self-certification form and on the confirmation page. You can format the guidance using Markdown,
    • We fixed a bug that caused duplicate self-certification extensions. This occurred when an assignment was linked to more than one assessment component. The extended deadline in these cases was correct, but duplicate extensions for the same assignment were displayed.
    • You can now use the 'Affected dates' filter on your department's Self-Certifications page. This previously produced an error.
    • We fixed a bug that prevented a tooltip on the self-certification form from appearing in Firefox. Now when you hover your mouse over the checkbox for an ineligible assessment in Firefox, a tooltip appears that reads: "This assessment is not eligible for Self-Certification".
  • We changed the submission time in Coursework Management to the time when the submission begins uploading. Previously, it was set to when uploading had completed. This caused problems when the upload of a large submission began before a deadline but didn't complete until after the deadline.
  • There were two changes to the Examinations table on the Modules page in students' profiles:
    • Online summer exams are now shown. They were previously omitted due to them adopting the exam code for oral exams (OE), which are not shown and are now coded differently. Thanks to Oscar Harris for making this change, via an open source contribution.
    • We removed the following table columns: 'Duration', 'Reading time' and 'Exam type'. This is because these properties can be varied by departments when they set up the exams within the AEP (Alternative Exams Portal).

Tabula 2021.2.3 released

We released Tabula 2021.2.3 on Thursday 18th February 2021. In this version:

  • We completed some work on the self-certification functionality enabled in the previous release:
    • When a self-certification is cancelled, the student's markers for the relevant assignments are now notified.
    • We fixed a bug that prevented Extension Managers from adding attachments to, or deleting, self-certification notes.
    • Submitted self-certifications now show the Tabula name of each affected assignment. Previously, they showed the name of the linked assessment component from SITS.
  • We fixed a bug that affected the 'Missed assessments report' in the Reports component. Reports for a date range that encompassed open assignments, or students within extensions, produced an error.

Tabula 2021.2.2 released

We released Tabula 2021.2.2 on Monday 15th February 2021. In this version:

  • We completed the work required to enable self-certification in Tabula. A couple of things to note:
    • 'Mitigating Circumstances' in the local navigation menu in Tabula now appears as 'Personal Circumstances' for Mitigating Circumstances Officers who are also a Departmental Administrator or Extension Manager. Mitigating Circumstances Officers who have neither of those two roles still see 'Mitigating Circumstances'.
    • Some of the technical notes refer to self-certification functionality related to MCOs (Mitigating Circumstances Officers). This was subsequently changed, via TAB-9072, such that Extension Managers (and Departmental Administrators) have the responsibility and permissions for managing self-certifications.
