Celebrating National Apprentice Week 2024 at University of Warwick

Celebrating National Apprentice week 2024

It's been a bumper year for apprenticeships at Warwick. We've had the highest number of Warwick staff working towards an apprenticeship than ever before, and even won a number of awards!

Last academic year, 94 members of staff were working towards an apprenticeship in 26 different subjects - the highest amount of different apprenticeships we have ever accessed.

Ahead of National Apprenticeship Week, a group of Warwick apprentices interviewed two Warwick Senior Leaders about their career journeys. And this week we'll be supporting an event with 300 school children from 11 different schools, helping them to consider if apprenticeships are the right next step in their careers.

Did you know here at Warwick, we also offer a range of degree apprenticeships, delivered by our Warwick Academics, that can support your professional development, aligned to your job role? The offer includes engineering, computer science, digital and career development amongst others.

Coventry Freeman Guilds Awards

It was a double win for Warwick at the Coventry Freemen's Guild Apprentice of the Year Awards Beth Russell - a Graduate Management Trainee - scored the title of Apprentice of the Year, while the University was awarded Apprentice Employer of the Year (Large Organisation Category).

Beth was recognised for her different skills at work - from her ability to spot inequalities and drive to champion inclusivity, through to her event management know-how.

And the University of Warwick was recognised for its contribution as an employer of apprentices in our region and celebrated for the support we offer.

Two Warwick Wow Awards for our apprentices

And in December 2023, the Internal Coaching Scheme was voted the December Warwick Wow Awards Winners with many of the Coaches becoming qualified by undertaking the Level 5 Coaching Professional apprenticeship.
