PDR for Reviewers: Prep Day

Aim of the workshop:

This short course aims to enable reviewers to hold effective PDR conversations with their teams. During the day, there will be sessions on setting and reviewing goals, reviewing and planning for development, and career conversations. There is also time to prepare for and write your reviewees’ PDRs, and the opportunity for an optional 1:1 appointment with the facilitator if you have particular questions.

If you have any questions, please email lmd@warwick.ac.uk

    What will I learn:

    • Create the conditions for a positive and supportive conversation
    • Offer incisive and effective feedback
    • Review a team member’s progress against existing goals
    • Set effective, strategically aligned goals using the SMART framework
    • Review the impact of development already received
    • Create a realistic development plan
    • Hold career conversations with reviewees with confidence

    Is it right for me?

You will benefit from this session if:

You’ll find this useful if you will be conducting PDRs as a reviewer and are looking to explore ways to make the most of the conversations.

    Less useful if...

You’ll find this less useful if you’re not a reviewer. There is a playlist for PDR for Reviewees on MindTools, which may be helpful. The PDR webpages also contain information for reviewees, including a How To guide and set of FAQs.

    Dates & Details

    The finer details...

There is pre-work required for this workshop:

    • Familiarise with the PDR process beforehand by accessing the PDR webpages, PDR Top Tips Moodle course (8 mins) and the How To guideLink opens in a new window.
    • Consider any questions or topics you might like to discuss in the 1:1 appointment. You may find it useful to review the FAQs in advance as your question may be answered there.
    • On the day, bring along the PDRs that you would like to work on, and a laptop.
