Simon

Simon Lenton

Simon has been teaching Trumpet, Cornet, Flugelhorn and Tenor Horn at Warwick University since 1995 and has been a professional trumpeter for over thirty years. For the past ten years as 1st Trumpet in the “Matilda The Musical” orchestra at the Cambridge Theatre, London. In addition, he freelances across all genres of the music business from gigging and recording with symphony, opera and ballet orchestras, brass bands and ensembles, across the pop and jazz scenes and commercial music sector, to performances as a soloist and chamber recitalist. He’s also worked regularly as a music arranger and copyist and as a fixer, manager and administrator.
As a teacher throughout his career, he has taught brass at all levels; from primary schools through to specialist Music Schools and Conservatoires both here in the UK and through his work with www.fineartsbrass.co.uk around the world.
He says of his teaching at Warwick University: "I am under no illusion how difficult it can be to stay on top of your playing - and hopefully to still make progress - whilst a student at Warwick. Consequently, I am happy to offer lessons in any capacity but ultimately to fit with YOUR requirements. Therefore what I try to offer my students is the flexibility to fit their playing studies into their personal schedules. If that means weeks or months (or years!) go by between our lessons, so be it! Let’s get cracking!"
