Lecturing with an iPad
Crash tutorial on lecturing/presenting with an iPad: Learn how to use remarkable features with no stress.
Last August I was preparing to lecture my first module. Very excited, overly keen and quite anxious I asked myself: “What is the best way to do it?”. I resolved I needed the possibility to use two screens simultaneously and to interact with both of them. After thorough research I decided to take the risk and I bought an iPad.
It turned out that not only I could do what I had planned fairly easily (split-screen) but also many more possibilities, ideas, features and APPs were there to support my work.
Possibilities related to lecturing/presenting such as:
• easily interact with pdf slides
• annotate on R output in real time
• save all the work done during lectures and share it instantly afterwards
Possibilities related to the lecturer work beyond the lecture theatre such as:
• easily take and store notes from seminars and conferences
• annotate on students’ work
• edit pdf files without tex source
• sign documents
In this informal session I will share my experience of lecturing with an iPad and point out the features and APPs which I have found most useful this year. I will set aside some time for you to try the iPad out if you like. Your suggestions and feedback will be extremely welcome.
