What's this?

The Tri-Grid Challenge is an opportunity to challenge yourself, get active and have fun - whether you're an exercise enthusiast looking to push yourself to the limits, or just needing a bit of extra motivation to get into running/walking, swimming, and/or cycling.

Track how far you run/walk, swim and cycle over two weeks to earn points and win prizes. Check out last term's winners to see the prize categories and how far we went.

You can enter as individual or get a team of up to 20 people to participate together.

Ability levels

There are two team ability levels for teams:

Around the Block

  • Your team is mostly people who are new to, or don't regularly run/swim/cycle.
  • Up to 1 in 4 members of your team can identify as Around the World level.

Around the World

  • Your team is mostly experienced runners/swimmers/cyclists who train regularly.
  • Ability levels can be changed by the organiser if considered unsupportive of the ethos of the challenge.

How does it work?

The challenge will start at 00.01am on 12th November and run until 25th November at 23:59pm.

1) Download the Mywellness Technogym App or create a desktop account Link your wearable tech and/or any fitness apps you use (Fitbit, Garmin, STRAVA etc.). If you do not use any of these, you can self-declare your activity through the challenge page. Find the ‘University of Warwick’ Club.:

  • Please note you must be on campus to do this
  • Please check your phone app setting to ensure ‘use my location’ is turned on for the Mywellness app
  • Click on the Tri Grid Challenges
  • Please note you will need to join all 3 challenges (running, swimming and cycling)
  • For the Running and Cycling challenges your activity will automatically be pulled through but you can still self-declare. For the swimming challenge you will need to self-declare ALL activities
Select your team and click join the challenge
  • 10 points - attend one of the Group Runs, detailed below (points will ony be awarded once during the challenge)
  • 5 points - do all three activities i.e. running, swimming and cycling at some point during the challenge (this does not have to be in one go)

Group Runs

There will be beginner/intermediate, advanced and walking groups. All sessions start from the Piazza.

  • Thursday 15 November, 5:30pm - 6:00pm
  • Monday 19 November, 12:30pm - 1:00pm
  • If you are using wearable tech or a fitness app to track your activity, the challenge will know to only pull through activity that is allowed (N.B. Tracked walks will still count in the running challenge).
  • If you are manually entering activity please follow these rules:
  • Running includes walking/jogging, indoors and outdoors.
  • Cycling includes outdoor and indoor cycling (excluding spin bikes).
  • The purpose of the activity must be to run/walk, swim or cycle i.e. any activity that happens in another sport such as running around a football pitch doesn't count.

Challenge Ethos and Safety:

This challenge is about encouraging all people to get active - any action deemed against this inclusive ethos may result in disqualification.

Please be conscious of your own and others' safety when taking part in the challenge: adhere to the Green Cross Code when near roads and wear suitable and visible clothing and footwear.
