The best match of this season for the Women’s Volleyball team and it is the BUCS Midlands Conference Cup final, what more can you ask for? After a great volleyball packed tour on Tenerife the Team spirit was on an ultimate high, pushing every girl to play their best in the final.
After the first close set which went to Warwick with 25:23 points Anglia Ruskin made an impressive comeback with great serving, overwhelming Warwick with 11:25 points in the second set. Even though Warwick managed to win the momentum back with great hits and an even better defence in the third set, Anglia Ruskin managed to win it with 24:26 points. But Warwick pulled themselves together and play a disciplined forth set with near to no mistakes and taking home the set with a convincing 25:20.
Both Teams went into the fifth and final set wanting to win this game to take home gold. Anglia Ruskin managed to get a 6 point lead by great serving to a 2:8 lead half way through the set, the worst start Warwick could have thought of. But our girls did not give up, mobilising all the energy left Warwick managed to make the biggest comeback of this season from losing 3:10 to defending 2 match points for Anglia Ruskin to finally taking home gold with the final set ending 16:14 for Warwick. Probably one of the best games for the girls this season and definitely the most thrilling one! GO WARWICK!
