Skydive Warwick Compete in World's Largest Ever Skydiving Competition

The 4-Way FS (formation skydiving) and VFS (vertical formation skydiving) British National Championships took place on 7th & 8th September 2014. A handful of current and graduate members of Skydive Warwick took part – and they did pretty well!

This was the largest ever skydiving competition with 78 teams competing!

In each round of the competition, the team of 4 skydivers must perform a sequence of formations as many times as possible within 35 seconds, this is all filmed by the 5th member of the team, the cameraman.

The formation skydiving competition has 4 categories (Rookie, A, AA and AAA), each performs formations of increasing difficultly.

The VFS competition works in the same way, except it is much more challenging due to the skydivers flying vertically (either standing or head-down), instead of belly-to-earth.

Congratulations are in order for all members of Skydive Warwick who took part in the competition...

  • *A* Sebastiaan Mulder and Sam Doughty (Nobody Expects the Würst) – Bronze!
  • Becky Stevens (Almost Petite) – 5th
  • Oli Sheppard (Un4tunate) – 18th (His team was only available for half of the competition!) *AA* Sam Lee (Bodyflight Aero) – Bronze!
  • *AAA* Marc Fletcher (Raykipo) – 9th
  • *VFS* Tim Gaines and Martin Roberson (Tequila) – Silver!

The British National Championships continued the following weekend with the 8-way FS competition, with Oli, Sam, Seb and the rest of their teams, BCP8 and BCP8lings, taking part.
