Warwick Rugby League's 1st Team Captain Signs for Coventry Bears

Warwick University's Rugby League 1st team captain David "Doc" O'Connor has recently signed a semi-professional contract with League 1 team Coventry Bears.

Having previously appeared for the Bears whilst the club was still an amateur outfit, Doc impressed sufficiently at the clubs trials to be offered the contract.

That he has been offered the contract comes as no surprise to those who have followed his illustrious amateur career, with notable highlights including: multiple appearances for Midlands RL representative team; selection for the Great Britain Pioneers tour of Ghana; and Caps for Ireland Students in the Four Nations.

The 2nd rower is now expected to play an integral role for the Bears as the club moves forward. He had this to say in the matter:

I'm very proud to have signed at Coventry Bears and I'm looking forward to the coming season in League 1. It's been a long journey since my first appearance for Warwick, but I've had a lot of fun.”

This just goes to prove the progress Warwick University Rugby League is making regarding its on field performances and general professionalism, with this potential progression available to any exceptional members of the club.
