Swimmers Success at BUCS

Once again Warwick Swimmers have had a fantastic weekend achieving an amazing 13 club records and beating the total BUCS points achieved last year with 12 points.

Jenny Chaplin kick started the points tally with a great swim in the 800m freestyle earning herself 3 personal bests within one swim and the team the first point of the meet.

Nick Tawn then put in some amazing swims in each of the breaststroke events earning a cumulative 11 points for the team, the highest single male tally in recent history. He faced extremely tough competition throughout, racing side by side with Ross Murdoch (Commonwealth Champion), Andrew Willis (Olympic Finalist) and Adam Peaty (World Record Holder).

Other notable performances from the weekend came from Danielle Rooke, Aaron Tomasz and the male Medley team. Danielle swam a 28.08 in the 50fc which placed her 19th in this highly contested event. Had this been SC, with this time she would have made a final! Aaron’s 1500m and 400m freestyles were great efforts but unfortunately fractionally missed the points finishing 11th in both.

Finally the boys medley team (Andy Reay, Nick Tawn, Aaron Tomasz, Daniel Riley), pulled out some outstanding swims for what most called the most thrilling race of the meet to be touched out by Southampton finishing 2nd in their final.

Congratulations to all of our swimmers this weekend, it has been a great end to the BUCS season.
