Welcome Week profile - Adele Ferrarin

As part of Welcome Week 2018, we speak to a variety of staff about their involvement.

Name – Adele Ferrarin

Job title – Induction Assistant

Department – International Student Office

1. Can you tell us a bit about your role?

I work on a variety of activities to support the Welcome Team with the planning and delivery of Welcome Week events. This has included the scheduling of over 1000 events taking place during Welcome Week and administering the airport transfer service for 2018. I have also assisted with the planning and delivery of events taking place during Welcome Week.

2. And what’s your involvement in Warwick Welcome Week 2018?

I have spent a lot of time scheduling events into rooms across campus and trying to ensure that everyone has a space that will be suitable for their event.

In the run up to Welcome Week I will be supporting the delivery of events including the information points that will be stationed in Library Road and the Piazza, the Welcome Hub taking place during Welcome Weekend and a student Q&A session. During the week itself I will be working with the Welcome Team to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

3. This year sees an entirely new approach and programme for Welcome. What benefits will this bring to new students?

I think the new approach to Welcome Week will benefit students enormously. It provides a chance to settle into new surroundings before the academic work starts. It will also offer plenty of opportunities to meet new people and try new things, setting students up with support systems that will remain with them throughout their time at university.

4. What are you most looking forward to about Welcome Week?

I have spent a lot of my time scheduling all of the great events that are taking place during Welcome Week and I am looking forward to seeing the timetable of events becoming a reality. Everyone has worked so hard on ensuring that Welcome Week has a bit of something for everyone so it will also be great to see students getting involved and enjoying their first week at Warwick.
