Job title – Student Welcome, Arrivals and Induction Coordinator

1. Can you tell us a bit about your role?

I work on a wide range of areas that support the induction and arrival of new students. My role in the Welcome team is very varied and includes leading on all pre-arrival communications (welcome packs, welcome emails, Welcome to Warwick website, bedroom packs), recruiting and managing over 500 student helpers, organising Welcome Week events and delivering the new arrivals process.

2. And what’s your involvement in Warwick Welcome Week 2018?

As part of the Welcome Team, I’ve been involved in Welcome right from the outset – helping with the design, planning and delivery of the week.

Amongst many other tasks, I’ve been working on developing the new personalised Welcome Week timetable. As a team, we feel this is a sector leading system that gives full control to students so they can build a programme to suit their needs and interests.

During the week itself, I’ll be helping to deliver Welcome Weekend where 7000 people move in, running events for all our new students and making sure everything is smooth sailing.

I’ll also be managing our huge team of Helpers who are all amazing examples of how friendly and welcoming the students at Warwick are.

This year sees an entirely new approach and programme for Welcome. What benefits will this bring to new students?

I think having all new students arrive at the same time will provide a fantastic opportunity for everyone to mix together and meet people from different countries, level of study and courses.

It will also give students some much needed time to settle in, find their way around and make friends. Coming to University for the first time is such a massive, overwhelming step and we want to make that transition as easy as possible.

3. What are you most looking forward to about Welcome Week?

Other than the obvious roller disco and inflatable fun day – seeing all the months of hard work come to life and welcoming all our new students.

Their excitement about being at Warwick is infectious and with over 1000 events happening, there will be a real buzz on campus.
