Despite facing uncountable obstacles and setbacks in my life, my aim of progressing in Higher Education was always present in my mind. Coming from a country where the education system is completely different with only traditional teaching methods, I realised I did not have the qualifications nor the confidence to apply to study an undergraduate course directly. I did a google search trying to find some universities which would accept my qualification, and I came across the IFP programme. I enrolled on the programme and that's where a journey of development of new skills, confidence, a personal enrichment started.
Through the IFP programme, I have been learning and expanding my knowledge in all the subjects required to pursue my dream career, subjects such as business law, maths, organisational behaviour, marketing, inquire and research skills, and even English for academic purposes. All the modules combined have given me the confidence, knowledge, and the qualification to apply to my course of interest in universities.
I have had a lot of support in my career progression too. The IFP department has exceptional staff that guide and help you to progress in your career pathway. With their guidance, I have applied for 5 universities, including, Warwick Business School, University of Leeds, Northumbria New Castle University, Oxford Brook and De Montfort University. And I have been given a conditional offer from 4 of them, including Warwick, which is top Business School in the UK.
When I first started the programme, my academic performance was not good at all. With the help and support of every tutor across my modules, Senior Tutor and Course Director, and a Student Mentor, I was able to improve my academic performance. They have guided me and supported me every step of the way and have enabled me to achieve better grades. The English for Academic Purposes module has given me the confidence and the skills to communicate effectively in English. The Global Economy module had given me a deeper understanding of the economic world. The Inquire and Research Skills module has given me the opportunity to work on a research project which I have enjoyed very much. It has given me a lot of transferable skills that I am planning to use in future research of business development.
I would say the best place to start and pursue you dream career is here. There is a diverse multicultural community here, committed staff to the service of IFP alumni, various types of support you might need to achieve your maximum potential. well-being services, an accessible campus with a wide-range of fun activities and any sports that you might be into. I have particularly enjoyed swimming and climbing!
For me, it has been a marvellous life-changing experience that has unlocked my career potential, given me confidence and purpose, personal enrichment, and uncountable skills, enabling me to pursue my long-life dream of getting into Higher Education and studying business!
