Liaisan (Russia) - Business Studies and Economics Foundation course (2017/18)
How did you find out about the Warwick IFP?
I followed in my brother’s footsteps because he went here 3 years ago and recommended it to me. He studied the same thing as me, but when the IFP was in Stratford. He’s jealous because I have a lot more opportunity to explore the university!
How have you found the course so far?
It’s very interesting but challenging sometimes. Here education differs from Russia. Sometimes I have to do things that I’ve never done before. It’s new but it’s challenging and interesting. For example, we’ve never done references. I’ve not done many presentations either, or group work; in Russia it’s more individual work. I like the new ways of working because you have a chance to meet new people and you can learn about their cultures.
Do you like living in the University Halls of Residence?
Yes, because you’re meeting new people. It’s interesting because their food differs, their traditions differ; it’s cool!
Do you feel like you're a part of the wider University on the IFP?
Yes, I joined the Russian speaking society and we’ve had a few gatherings so I’ve met people from different courses. I’ve asked them about their courses to get advice about my future education.
Have you thought about what you would like to do after the IFP?
I'm planning to study Accounting and Finance, at Warwick - that's my goal!
