Memorandum of Understanding with WFS and Academic Departments

This MOU outlines the key responsibilities of academic departments and Warwick Foundation Studies for Summer Schools. Academic departments ‘own’ the academic Summer School courses while WFS are responsible for the successful delivery of the Summer School in its entirety and for overseeing the quality of all provision.
The department will:
- provide and endorse appropriate staff to develop and deliver the programme
- ensure the quality of the programme meets expectations
- review post-programme feedback and act on this appropriately
- engage with any wider review process of summer schools
- attend meetings relating to summer school strategies
- support marketing activities by:
- providing links to programmes on departmental websites
- promote through departmental alumni network
Teaching staff will:
- develop the course, teaching materials and resources aligned to the Summer School delivery framework
- teach on the programme
- oversee other staff on the programme
- set and mark exams and any resits, as required
- attend relevant meetings
- engage in key Summer School social programme activities (e.g. welcome dinner and farewell event)
Warwick Foundation Studies will administer the summer school activities including the delivery and management of:
- a revenue stream for departments
- recruitment and marketing strategy and plans
- links with HEIs internationally with an eye to diversifying the cohorts
- admissions management
- course registration and administration
- accommodation
- all social and cultural activity
- guest lecture series
- skills development components
- English language provision
- wrap-around advice, guidance and wellbeing support
- relationships with all stakeholders
- networking and training opportunities for staff
- examinations and assessments
- results and certificate provision
The university will:
- promote our programmes
- provide space and facilities in priority over CCSG activity
- support with marketing and recruitment activity centrally
- ensure systems are in place to administer the programme effectively (e.g. tabula, course set-up etc.)
- help the department realise strategy by providing a steer
