Start Your Own Living Lab
Be a Part of Our Sustainable Journey
By engaging with the Living Lab, you not only contribute to a sustainable future but also gain a deeper connection to our campus and the wider Warwick community. Every project, big or small, helps us learn more about our environment, enhance our social practices, and build a culture of sustainability that touches every aspect of university life.
How to Launch a Living Lab Project at Warwick:
1. Ways to begin
- Apply for an Existing Project: Explore our current project list and contact the project holder directly. Watch for project announcements, particularly when planning your dissertation.
- Got Your Own Idea? Submit a new project proposal using our template and send it to [contact email]. Alternatively, review completed projects to find research gaps or new opportunities. Reach out to [contact email] if you wish to build on these ideas.
2. Set up and carrying out your project
- Agreement and Planning: After meeting with the project team members, finalise your project details with your lead and academic supervisor. Sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to set clear goals and responsibilities.
- Ongoing Support: Receive regular guidance from your project lead and access university resources. If your project is part of a dissertation, work with your advisor to integrate it with your academic work
3. Project completion and sharing
- Submit Results: As part of our commitment to data sharing and transparency all data must be sent to the project leaders to be gathered and stored in our Data Library, alongside a brief summary of findings.
- Living Lab Blog: Share your project experience as well as any photos or videos on our Living Lab Blog.
Expectations & Support
The Energy & Sustainability Team accept requests from academic supervisors for research projects and placements that fall within the scope of the team and use existing quantitative or qualitative data, or access to existing contacts. As some projects are offered to multiple departments, the allocation of projects to students will be on a first come, first served basis. The feasibility of supporting work placements will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, following the review of the placement proposal.
