reStore

In Term 1 (2023), the Energy and Sustainability team and the School of Engineering Build Space will be re-opening the doors to a reStore repair cafe event for staff and students.

The events are an informal get together in which people can bring along and repair and upcycle everything from electrical and mechanical devices, computers, bicycles and clothing using the tools and equipment available with the help of some skilled repairers and makers. Sometimes a very simple repair is all that is needed to fix a broken or damaged item, saving it from going to landfill and reducing environmental costs. The act of repairing or upcycling extends a product's useable life, reduces waste and pollution, and saves energy, carbon emissions and finite non-renewable resources.

Are you great at fixing things? Would you like to volunteer at our reStore events and help us repair and upcycle items? Fill out our volunteer form here, and the Health and Safety form here.

Equally, do you have an item that needs repairing? Do you have an item that could be upcycled? Please complete both the Health and Safety form hereLink opens in a new window and the sign up form hereLink opens in a new window to let us know which items you'll be bringing!

The upcoming reStore events are scheduled for:

  • 5th December 5-8pm.

All staff and students are welcome to attend the event and there will be complementary drinks and food on hand to keep everyone fully charged.

Location: School of Engineering EBS1.3Link opens in a new window

Please note: Amount of time fixes take and the number of people volunteering to support the mending of items, will affect waiting times and could mean that items are not seen that day.
