Placemaking

Departments and services are working collaboratively on projects related to the infrastructure and environment of our campus. Bringing colour, life and playfulness to the campus encourages connections, footfall and an inclusive welcoming experience for all. The examples focus on new additions to our impressive public art collection, opportunities to animate space through live engagement, and street art.

Colour Connection

Colour Connection

Colour Connection by Tine Bech, installed outside University House, is an interactive public artwork featuring coloured glass panels and two-way mirrors. Designed as a “deconstructed rainbow”, it creates a playful, reflective space that encourages social interaction and connection. The work fosters wellbeing and communal engagement, inviting passersby to experience and participate in the artwork.

David Speed

David Speed residency

The Retreat to Create project, commissioned by Marketing Communications & Insight team, was developed with street artist David Speed. Speed led interactive masterclasses, gave a keynote speech and brought his podcast ‘Creative Rebels’ to campus. He also visited a primary school in Canley to undertake a practical workshop and gave a secondary school careers talk. The final mural was realised in October 2025.

OneWorldWarwick

One World Warwick

The first One World Warwick programme brought together over 5,500 people for 50 events in 23 places across six countries, celebrating Warwick’s global community. Highlights included the Global Illuminations Procession of music, dance, and light — an early version of the larger 2025 event for the 60th Anniversary Programme. Most attendees felt more connected to Warwick and learned about new cultures.
