URSS applications now open

Departments and research centres are invited to nominate potential projects which offer opportunities for undergraduates to gain first-hand experience within a research environment, enabling them to develop transferable skills for either future study or employment. The successful projects will involve regular supervision and mentoring for the student, space to facilitate their work and assistance in producing the exhibition poster and feedback reports. In return, students undertake projects either full-time during the summer vacation or part-time during either term or the vacation period and attend an introductory briefing outlining the workshops and important dates of the Scheme. To celebrate and reflect upon the research projects, students produce a research poster for the exhibition and submit a reflective report outlining the outcomes of their work.

Applying
Applications for the 2011-12 Scheme must be submitted by Wednesday 1st February. To apply, both the supervisor and the students submit an application form, which will then be considered by the URSS Review Board for eligibility for the Scheme. Successful applicants will be notified in Week 9 of the Spring Term, with a compulsory briefing for students in Week 10.
